A Small Step, a Big Change
A Small Step, a Big Change
Sometimes we know there is a version of ourselves we want to become: more confident, braver, and ready to take on new experiences. But we do not always know how to reach her. For me, Skills for Tomorrow was one of the most important steps on the journey of discovering that person.
Since joining the program, I have discovered something new about myself through every experience. I learned how to work as part of a team, take responsibility, and share my ideas even when I felt hesitant. Over time, the program became more than a place where I learned new skills. It became a space where I tried things I was not used to and developed myself, including my English. With every experience, I began to notice changes in the way I thought and behaved.

SFT Summer Camp 2024 in Tunisia was one of the experiences that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Travelling, meeting people from different cities, and taking part in new activities and challenges broadened my perspective and helped me rely on myself more. On one occasion, I found myself speaking in front of a group of people without hesitation. In that moment, I felt I could express my ideas freely. It may have been a simple moment, but to me it was proof of the change happening in me, step by step.

Then came my trip to the United States, specifically to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. It was a completely different experience. Finding myself in a country I had once seen as far away, communicating with people from different cultures and in another language, made me face myself outside the environment I was used to. Using English to communicate and participate taught me how to handle new situations, even when I was not always sure of every word. Through the experience, my view of the world expanded. I understood that the place where we live does not define the limits of our ambitions, and that trying can bring us closer to dreams that once seemed far away.
Through all these experiences, I began to understand something important about myself: I do not want to hold myself back simply because something scares me. I want to be braver when expressing my ideas and more willing to take on new experiences. I learned that courage does not mean being unafraid; it means continuing even when you are afraid. On the day I graduated from Skills for Tomorrow, I stood in front of everyone and spoke clearly, thanking the teachers who taught me. At that moment, I felt I could see the result of every small step I had taken, and I understood how much I had changed.
Today, when I look back on my journey with Skills for Tomorrow, I know that every experience helped build my character and confidence. I may still hesitate sometimes, but the difference is that I no longer let fear stop me. Change did not happen in one moment. It came from small steps that accumulated over time and brought me closer to the person I had always wanted to become.
